Summary: It's a classic for a reason, this tank goes to show sometimes simple is best and is an ideal option for intermediate Sub Ohm vapers looking for something that delivers on flavour and vapour. Simple to set-up, maintain and clean, it's the quality you'd expect from Aspire.

The Classic Cleito

Aspire are one of the most trusted names in vaping and one of the biggest manufacturers in China. They might be best known for MTL products like the Nautilus Tank but they’ve also designed some brilliant DTL sub-ohm tanks too. The Cleito is one such product, it’s supplied with low resistance clapton coils that have been specifically designed to use with higher VG liquids. If you are looking for a DTL tank with high vapour production and a warm direct to lung vape, then the Cleito may just fit the bill.

Build quality and specifications

As I open the box there’s a very familiar look to the tank, it clearly comes from the same Aspire pedigree as the Nautilus X and Evo Standard. It has that same overall style which will be a good thing for people that like and use Aspire products already. It will fit right in as part of the family. Aside from the tank itself there’s two different Clapton coils supplied, a 0.2ohm and a 0.4ohm. There’s a spare Pyrex glass, which is always handy, and some coloured rubber ‘cuffs’ that sit over the top of the tank. Also included is an Aspire vape band, which I know not many people will use, but it’s always nice to get little extras.

The 304 stainless steel Cleito holds a TPD compliant 2ml and there’s a combined wide-bore Delrin tip and cap, which should help keep things cool up top. At 22mm wide it will fit on almost any mod you choose, even the smaller ones. It’s a simple top fill design, which to be honest is expected with every tank these days. It’s finished well in a simple silver or black plated design. Aspire are not often known for fancy rainbow colours, and these two simple choices help keep things classy. The machining and threading is excellent and the coils are easy to screw in and out. Overall it looks good and I’m looking forward to seeing how these coils perform. I’m going to be using my favourite Dinner Lady Apple Sours 70VG Short Fill liquid.

Flavour and performance

I have the 0.4ohm Clapton coil in the tank to try out first, recommended power is 40-60w so after a good prime and soak for little while, I set it for 50w and dive in. This is absolutely the kind of DTL vape I really enjoy. Not too hot or violent, just a really nice smooth draw with a good amount of vapour. There’s no spitting or anything nasty even after cranking the power up to 60w. It’s seems to be keeping up very well and even chain vaping a little there’s not even a hint of dryness. I think this coil performs excellently all round, flavour is accurate for a juice I know well, so no complaints there either. All the depth of the flavour is present and correct.

After a quick switch to the 0.2 ohm I’m adjusting the power up to 70w, the recommended power for this coil is 55-70w and I want to check it will keep up with the 70VG liquid and some heavy vaping. There’s no sign of a dry hit thankfully and the plumes of vapour are very thick and satisfying. There’s some serious amounts of vapour being produced from this coil, it’s a bit more manageable for me down at 55w, but discreet is one thing this isn’t. For people who enjoy making the biggest clouds though, it’s perfect. I think the flavour is slightly better with the 0.4 ohm coil but there isn’t much in it.

Overall Performance and summary

The Cleito is a nice compact size and perfect for those that are put off by some of the much bigger sub-tanks around. It can still pack a punch though and with the 0.2 ohm coil will produce a surprising amount of vapour. The top fill design, that you need to unscrew to open, is maybe not as fast or convenient as a sliding top but it works well. If you’ve ever had a tank top come open in your pocket you will see it very much as a positive. The 0.4 ohm is a great coil for all day DTL vaping and won’t drain your liquid and battery quite as quickly. The flavour from this tank is very good with either coil and stands up against my RDA’s well. At around £22 it’s not expensive and the overall quality, performance and lifespan of the Aspire coils makes this tank a real winner.
