Vaporesso Revenger X Kit
The Revenger X kit by Vaporesso is a compact twin cell mod packaged along with its popular NRG tank. Vaporesso are a company that have really come a long way in the last year, they have been consistently putting out products that rival many of the more established brands like Smok and Aspire. The Revenger X mod does at first glance look very similar to other kits on the market but it also sports the unmistakable Vaporesso styling and design that’s reminiscent of the Tarot range. It comes in a range of colours from all black to a bright Lamborghini green, so there should be something that will appeal to everyone.
Build Quality and Specifications
The revenger X mod runs on a pair of 18650 cells. While some might prefer to use the larger 21700 cells, for a device to carry around all day in your pocket I personally prefer the smaller batteries to keep weight and size to a minimum. This mod feels very compact and Vaporesso have done a good job fitting everything inside and keeping it as a sensible and pocket friendly design. Maximum power is 220w which should be more than enough for anyone, especially as the fitted 0.15 ohm GT8 coil has a recommended wattage of 60w-110w. There’s also a GT4 coil in the box that runs on a more battery friendly 30-60w. The device uses Vaporesso’s Omni Board 2.2 which is a proven chipset in both functionality and reliability. The Omni Board 2.2 boasts an ultra fast firing speed of 0.002 seconds, a very wide resistance range of 0.03Ω-5Ω and all the usual safety features you would expect in a modern device. One unique feature is the inclusion of touch buttons for adjustments, and vibration feedback, similar to what you might find on a phone. Overall it feels well made and the screen is bright and sharp. There’s a lot of output options: the usual variable wattage, temperature control (for compatible coils) bypass, custom curves and TCR and well as hard soft and normal options. Most people will be familiar with these settings. Many vapers will just stick to the regular variable wattage but it’s nice to have more options available to try.
The new and updated NRG tank is a fairly standard sub-tank in many ways, but it does have a really nice sliding top fill and a good solid construction. What stands out to me is the performance of the coils, which was exceptional compared to some other coils I’ve used before. The finish on the tank is good and there’s not much to complain about here. The package is nicely presented and it all looks quite classy and upmarket.
In use I found the kit easy to navigate and you’ll only need to refer to the manual if you really want to deep dive into some of the settings, for most people it will all be fairly familiar and self explanatory. It has a great automatic power setting feature which adjusts the power when you connect a new coil; on connecting the tank with the GT4 coil in, it automatically switched to 55w which does seem a good power for that coil. You can of course adjust it to suit you personally, but it’s a very handy feature that could stop you burning out a new coil by accidentally putting way too much wattage through it.
The device feels great in the hand and it’s smooth and comfortable to either thumb or trigger fire. It’s also fairly light and would make a great daily use set up.
Tank and Flavour Performance
This is where this kit really shines for me. Vaporesso have always made well performing coils and these are no exception, and along with the NRG tank this must be one of the best DTL tank and the coil combinations I’ve tried.
The flavour experience is a lot better than some similar kits and I found the GT4 coil gave a very accurate taste of liquids I’m very familiar with. Airflow is adjustable by the ring and slots around the bottom of the tank as is common with most sub-tank style tanks. Filling is extremely easy using the simple slide top and it’s also a very clean process, which is a good thing as you will need to fill it quite often thanks to the TPD regulations making this a 2ml capacity tank.
There is a spare glass and o-rings in the box and taking it all apart to clean is very simple. Vapour production is very good and it always felt like a full saturated vape with every inhale. It never felt like it couldn’t keep up and the cotton wick was drying out. The GT4 coil was my favourite but if you like a more powerful and punchy vape then the GT8 might suit you better. Either way it’s great that both are included so you can try them both before needing to buy replacements. There’s also GT2 and GT6 coils available separately so there should be something to suit all tastes that will be compatible with the NRG tank.
Overall Performance and Summary
Overall there’s not much to be negative about with this kit. It’s not going to suit everyone but if you are looking for a twin 18650 mod and sub-ohm DTL tank kit then this is going to be everything you need. The coils perform way better than some others on the market which is a huge plus for me. Having great, long lasting coils is very important for kits like this otherwise it just leads to frustration, even if everything else is good. I think the Revenger X kit offers real value for money too with a price around £60. The mod seems well made and operation is simple and intuitive, but it offers many optional features and functions for those that want to really get deep into the settings. It feels like it offers the best of both worlds in that respect. I would recommend this kit for advanced users and beginners who want a solid and reliable DTL kit.
Summary: A solid and dependable kit, that would make a great main device. Very high quality and long lasting coils with exceptional flavour.
